Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Information you give us

• When you sign up: your first name, email address and, if you choose, your phone number.
• When you order: your name, delivery address, email, what you ordered and, for a gift, the recipient's name, address and email and your message.
• When you pay: your card details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe. We receive a confirmation, the last four digits and the card type. We never see or store your full card number.
• When you write to us or answer a quiz, survey or interview: what you tell us, including a voice or video recording if you choose to answer that way.

Information collected as you use the site

• What you do here: pages you view, products you look at or add to your cart, buttons you press, and how far you got through checkout.
• Session recordings: on some visits we record how the page was used (scrolling, clicks and movement) so we can find and fix what confuses people. Anything you type into a form is hidden in these recordings.
• Your device: browser and device type, screen size, language, time zone, and an approximate location (city, region and country) worked out from your internet address. We also use a device recognition tool that tells us when the same browser returns and helps us block automated traffic and fraud.
• Where you came from: the page or advert that brought you here, and any campaign details in the link you followed.
• Our emails and texts: whether a message was delivered and opened and which links were followed. Emails we send as plain personal letters do not report opens.

2. How we use it

• To take, source, ship and support your order, and to send your receipt, tracking and service messages about it.
• To keep your cart and any time-limited offer you were shown, across your visits and devices.
• To send you emails and texts you agreed to: at most two emails a week and two texts a month.
• To make messages relevant, for example a reminder about a cart you left, and to avoid sending you things that do not apply to you.
• To understand what works on the site, measure our advertising, and improve our products.
• To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet legal and tax duties.

Where the law asks us to name a basis for this: we use your information to carry out our contract with you (your order), with your consent (marketing messages and non-essential cookies), for our legitimate interests in running and improving a small business safely, and to comply with the law.

3. Cookies and similar tools

We use a first-party cookie and your browser's storage to recognise your browser, keep your cart, remember that you agreed to our Pact, and measure visits. If we advertise on a platform such as Meta, TikTok, Google or Pinterest, we may use that platform's tag and send it limited information about actions on our site, such as a purchase, so that it can measure and improve our adverts. Email addresses and phone numbers sent for this purpose are hashed first, which turns them into a code that cannot be read back.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. The site still works, but your cart and offers may not be remembered.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run PactWithNature, and only what each needs:

• Stripe, which processes payments.
• Our customer platform and its hosting, database, email, text message, analytics and device recognition providers, which store and process the information described above on our behalf.
• Carriers and fulfilment partners, who receive your name and delivery address.
• Advertising platforms, as described in section 3.
• Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.

If you ask to be told about the farmer behind your batch, we send you their story. We do not give your details to farmers.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. Our providers are in the United States and other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in.

5. Your choices: emails, texts and tracking

• Emails: use the link at the foot of any email, or write to us. Order and service emails about a purchase you made will still reach you.
• Texts: reply STOP to any text. Message and data rates may apply. We only text numbers whose owner agreed to it.
• On-site notifications and browser notifications: close them, or switch them off in your browser.
• Advertising: you can limit ad personalisation in each platform's own settings and in your device settings. We honour a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request not to share your information for advertising.

6. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy,
• correct it,
• delete it,
• stop using it for marketing, or
• stop sharing it for advertising.

Email support@pactwithnature.app with the subject Privacy request, from the email address you used with us. We answer within 30 days, at no charge, and we will never treat you differently for asking. People in California, other US states with privacy laws, the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area have these rights by law, and may also complain to their data protection authority or state attorney general.

We keep what the law requires us to keep, such as order and tax records, even after a deletion request.

7. How long we keep it and how we protect it

• Order records: seven years, for tax and accounting.
• Your profile and browsing history with us: while you are a customer or subscriber, and up to three years after your last activity.
• Session recordings: up to 90 days.
• Records that you agreed to, or opted out of, messages: for as long as we might need to prove it.

Information travels to us encrypted, access is limited to people who need it, payment details are handled only by our payment processor, and sensitive credentials are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

8. Children, changes and contact

PactWithNature is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

If we change this policy we update the date at the top, and for important changes we tell you by email or on the site.
